Due to the current COVID situation, we have had to postpone the AAPS meetup on 9-13 October in HCM city. A new date is coming!

Our Story

The Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons was formed in 1972 by a group of visionary surgeons who believed that, in order to succeed in improving the surgical care for children, Pediatric Surgery had to be a dedication and separate specialty.

The Association would provide a platform for all surgeons with a similar interest to share their new techniques, developments and sometimes also frustrations.

In this, the AAPS has been a huge success with pediatric surgery now being a separate specialty in most countries.

This has had easily visible results – drastically reduced mortality and morbidity, and a chance of a normal and full life for a child, even if born with significant congenital malformations.

The meetings are held bi-annually throughout Asia and welcome all those interested in Surgery in children.

Encouraging scientific exchange and participation

We meet and set color, religion and politics aside to focus on what’s important for our patients.

Invited speakers, scientific exchanges and presentations are just some of the opportunities provided by our platform to colleagues who may wish to share their work and or develop their skills.

These interactions form an integral part of any scientific meeting where networking, discussion and meaningful relationship building will lay the foundations for future collaborations and scientific progress.

We have been linked to Internationally recognized Journals over the years, and the current affiliation is with Pediatric Surgery International to which a dedicated bi-annual volume may be dedicated.

Our Core values center around the treatment of the child and the family

  • Every child must be  treated like a close relative.
  • We must always keep ourselves abreast of new technologies in striving to achieve the best outcome for a child and his/her family.

Our Mission

  • To ensure Pediatric Surgery remains a separate specialty.
  • To host regular (biannual) scientific meetings dedicated to Pediatric Surgery.
  • To encourage scientific exchange and participation.
  • To ensure affiliation with a reputable international journal for publication of relevant articles.

Our Vision

  • To develop Pediatric Surgery into a separate entity (On establishing the association in 1972).
  • Top have an association which will serve as a platform for all relevant pediatric surgical activities.
