Our Story
The Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons was formed in 1972 by a group of visionary surgeons who believed that, in order to succeed in improving the surgical care for children, Pediatric Surgery had to be a dedication and separate specialty.
The Association would provide a platform for all surgeons with a similar interest to share their new techniques, developments and sometimes also frustrations.
In this, the AAPS has been a huge success with pediatric surgery now being a separate specialty in most countries.
This has had easily visible results – drastically reduced mortality and morbidity, and a chance of a normal and full life for a child, even if born with significant congenital malformations.
The meetings are held bi-annually throughout Asia and welcome all those interested in Surgery in children.
